Vashon musicians play at the Rat

Two talented musicians from the Pacific Northwest of the States are visiting the region this week.Expat from Northumberland Wally Bell and highly regarded Vashon singer songwriter Steve Amsden will be playing at pubs in the region.

Wally grew up in Northumberland( his father was one of the Pitmen painters )and began playing at clubs in the region at a very young age.He attributes his lifelong interest in music to the Cellar folk club at Ashington, where he was a regular resident artist in the 70′s.Wally plays the cittern a stringed instrument which looks very much like a flat back mandolin, made specially for him in Northumberland by Terry Docherty.

He now lives in Vashon with his wife and young son.

We were delighted to welcome Wally,Steve and Terry to the Rat Inn at Anick last Friday evening (13th May) regulars enjoyed an excellent evening of live music.Wally and Steve are also hoping to drop in at the regular Thursday night folk music evening run by prominent local musicians Liz Law and Terry Conway at the Crown Inn,Catton on Thursday 19th May.
